Madera Canyon Video Programs Receive Notice!
The release of two new FOMC adult
education video tape programs has recently had outstanding newspaper
coverage. The Green Valley News & Sun ran a lead
editorial in August 2003, and, in November 2003, ran with a
front page photo on the Canyon. On page 3 of that edition, there
was a half-page article on Experts Look at Madera Canyon and
Madera Canyon's Five Seasons VHS videotape programs.
The Arizona Daily
Star printed a front page mini-banner and an "Accent" section
front page article, with photos and illustrations of the videotape
boxes. With this kind of recognition, the Friends of Madera
Canyon had an instantaneous surge in sales to the public, and,
in both cases, reorders for more tapes were placed to meet the
growing demand.
These two new videos
are now available at the Green Valley Library, as well as through
the Pima County Library system.
The FOMC Video Education
Committee acknowledged the teamwork of the production team of
FOMC members Anna and Scott Griessel and the Tucson staff of
Ric Rose's Film Creations, including camera master Marco
Pennacchini, editor Ben Allen, and others, as well as the journalists'
prominent stories. The dedicated team members were honored with
plaque saluting their endeavors in helping FOMC to support the
Forest Service in preserving the natural wonders of the Madera
Canyon Recreation Area.
The FOMC Marketing
Committee, under Chairperson Mary Gibson, continues to contact
outlets through which the video tapes may be acquired by members,
visitors, and those seeking an excellent gift for friends and
relatives. All of these individuals, plus many active FOMC members
have participated in the generation of these tapes.
